## Set up in *three steps.*

Owners and admins connect the site in Settings › Publishing.

1. ### Connect your site
Create an app at developer.wordpress.com/apps, then enter its client ID and secret, your username and an application password.
2. ### Choose draft or live
Keep each article as a draft you publish with one click, or publish the autopilot's articles automatically once they pass the quality check.
3. ### Turn on the autopilot
Plan articles on the calendar. The autopilot writes them and, if you chose it, publishes them to WordPress.com on their date.

## What gets *sent.*

Each article becomes one post, created once and updated after that.

- ### Title, slug and body
The article as HTML, with its headings, links, images and FAQ.
- ### Excerpt
The article's short summary, in the post's excerpt.
- ### Tags and category
Its tags, created when missing, and an existing category named like its topic.
- ### Featured image
The cover, uploaded once with its alt text.
- ### Author
The site user named like your writing settings' author, else your account.

## Questions about *WordPress.com*

[All questions](https://probeli.ai/faq)

**Why do I create an app?**

Probeli has no WordPress.com app of its own yet, so it signs in through one on your account: any name, your site as its address. Probeli uses its client ID and secret with your application password to get a new token each time it publishes, and never stores the token.

**Does Probeli publish straight away, or as a draft?**

Your choice. By default every article waits in Probeli until an owner or admin clicks Publish to WordPress.com. With Publish automatically, the autopilot's articles that pass the quality check go live on their calendar date; articles marked Needs review always wait for you.

**What happens when I edit an article that is already published?**

Update on WordPress.com sends the new version to the same post: no second post is made. A refreshed article is sent by itself only when you publish automatically and the post still holds what Probeli sent.

**Are the SEO title and description filled?**

No. Probeli fills the post's title, excerpt, tags, category and featured image, not WordPress.com's SEO settings. Probeli sends no structured data.

**How are categories and authors chosen?**

Probeli picks an existing category named like the article's topic and never creates one. The author is the site user named like the author in your writing settings when it can find one; otherwise it's your account.

**What happens if I take an article back or disconnect?**

Taking an article back sets its post to draft; nothing is deleted. Disconnecting makes Probeli forget the app's credentials and your password: articles already published stay on your site, and the autopilot goes back to saving drafts.
